Overview

Lake Tuggeranong College (LTC) is located in Canberra, the capital of Australia, 20km south of the city centre. It overlooks picturesque Lake Tuggeranong and has tree-lined suburbs to the east and the bustling Tuggeranong Town Centre to the west.

Lake Tuggeranong College makes an immediate impression on visitors with stunning architecture, taking full advantage of the lakeside setting. It is an inclusive educational institution that works to support all students to achieve their full potential during their time at the college.  Students are encouraged to work closely with their Wellbeing coordinator, Academic Officers, and teachers to develop a program that reflects their personal goals and future pathways.

The college is prominently positioned on the shores of Lake Tuggeranong, Greenway and is close to the Tuggeranong Town Centre and bus terminal. The college campus and the adjoining public library was designed by the firm Edwards Madigan Torzillo and Briggs, the same firm the designed the High Court of Australia building and National Gallery of Australia in Parkes.

Campus facilities include general use science laboratories; metal, wood, and auto technology workshops; a kitchen class room; sporting facilities including a rowing shed; drama, dance, art and photography studios; and teaching spaces from 20 person class rooms to an eighty-seat lecture theatre.

Tuggeranong Town Centre Library is adjacent to the college and is a joint-use facility catering for the educational needs of college students and for community use. The proximity of the library provides students with access to the ACT public library collection, free computing facilities and study space. Fully qualified Teacher Librarians, in addition to ACT Public Library staff, further the services provided to college students.

The team starts where our year 12 students train year 11 students in term 4. The experience Tiger Team students gain helps build a strong CV and they use their experience in interviews to show how they can work when applying for jobs in the IT sector. Many of our Tiger Team are directly employed straight out of college via the public service digital apprenticeships program.
> SERVICES AUSTRALIA CYBER PROGRAM - This is a program that runs during our ‘College Programs’ timetable. We link with IT professionals from Services Australia to create cyber security-based projects. The program consists of students working with the Services Australia cyber security staff. The students learn about Linux and ethical hacking tools and techniques and apply these to create a solution in their projects. The aim is to ensure our future workforce is skilled in preventing systems being compromised. Our students use the extension program to enhance their CVs when applying to university and for IT related jobs in cyber security.
