Located at the southern end of the Pittwater, a sheltered waterway ideal for sailing, kayaking and swimming. The natural, park-like surroundings of the school with its special facilities for agriculture and horticulture are a perfect match.
Pittwater High School is renowned for its academic, cultural and sporting achievements and has a long tradition of excellence in music and sailing.
It is one of the few schools in Australia to offer sailing as a sport and has its own yacht. In collaboration with the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club, sailing courses are run for students. Pittwater High School has a long history of involving students in its school sailing program, dating back to the late 1960s. Pittwater High School has produced many Australian champions and even world champions in sailing. A former student sailed in the Olympics five times.
The renowned music ensemble program offers students a wide range of instrumental and vocal ensembles. Dedicated instrumentalists have the opportunity to practice and perform at a high level. The Pittwater High School Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra Band and Stage Band are the school’s top ensembles. They regularly win awards at competitions and festivals, including gold at the NSW School Band Championships and the Yamaha Music Festival. The Stage Bands often play at major jazz festivals and regularly perform with professional guest artists.
Several hundred students a year learn agriculture at Pittwater and gain experience in horticulture and animal husbandry on the school’s own farm with chickens, sheep and alpacas.
Another strength of the school is the many clubs offered outside the classroom, such as visual arts, journalism, darts, choir, chess, dance and debating. The school is also only 1.7 km or a 5 minute bike ride from one of Sydney’s best beaches, Mona Vale Beach, with great surfing and a surf school.
1 -Focus on academic excellence
