ABOUT THE SCHOOL
Dickson College is located in the northern part of Canberra’s city centre, within easy reach of the universities and the heart of Canberra. The school prides itself in offering a good mix of tradition and innovation for students aged 16 and over. There are usually around 50 internationals at Dickson College, most of them from Asian countries. In addition to a wide range of academic subjects, Dickson College offers a number of specialised programmes to meet different student needs. For example, the College offers an exciting Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) programme that combines a variety of disciplines into one project. In this project, students develop an aircraft and associated computer program that can be used to search for a stranded person lost in the outback and then drop a rescue package. The students work on different aspects of this very cool project, which involves technologies such as digital mapping, autopilots and image recognition, but also marketing, advertising or management.
